Diph

Many of us take pictures with our digital cameras, but, the outputted files are much too large to send by email or to show in a digital picture frame. Diph helps these problems by giving you the ability to resize any picture you like to a size which is much more useable in a digital photo frame and in email, all for free.

Diph is short for Digital Picture Helper. Diph gives you a program to tweak your digital camera files and output them in ways to get more use out of them. For instance, you can rotate your pictures as well as make copies of your pictures resized for emails, blogs, instant message, or your digital picture frame.

How much does it cost - it's Free. :)

The program is supported through advertising at the top of the screen. A live internet connection is required to download the updated ads and for the program to work. The screenshots below are from the previous version which was a purchasable application. We are in the process of updating the screenshots to show the new version with the ad at the top.

Now we can start to show the features which make Diph a special program. If you right click over one of the mini images, also known as thumbnails, you bring up a menu as below.

Here's a listing, and description of the menu items and what they can do:

(Multi-) File Save - If you select this item, the program will make resized copies of the selected files in the current directory. Currently, there is only one selected file. You can select multiple files by holding down the shift key and click other image thumbnails. Then, if you select this menu option, selected files will be resized to the size chosen on the bottom of the program screen, which is currently set at 320 x 240 pixels. There are other options available, simply click on the drop down list below to make your choice of the ones available.

Resize All Files In Chosen Directory - If you select this item, the program will allow you to make resized copies of the files in the current directory. The files will be resized to the size chosen on the bottom of the program screen, which is currently set at 320 x 240 pixels.

Copy to Clipboard - This option allows you to take the currently selected image, resize it to the size as selected by the drop down list below, and bring up the newly made picture up in  a new window. From here, you can save the file, or, 'Paste' it into another program from the Windows Clipboard.

Delete - Ever take a picture you didn't want but didn't know where it was in the directory you saved them? Well, now, you can see thumbnail images of all the images in a directory, and, select the ones you don't want, then right click on one you want to delete, then, select 'delete' to delete the file. Got a bad picture? It's that easy to make it go away.

Rotate - Ever take a picture where you turned the camera on end? I have. Ever not like to look at those pictures later and wish they would just turn to the right side. Well, with the 'Rotate', menu item, you can rotate the selected image any way you like - left, right, or upside down. Also, you can select multiple files to rotate by holding down the 'Ctrl' button and clicking multiple files. Then, if you select rotate and one of the rotate options, all the selected images will be rotated in the direction you choose.

Right Click Menu items

Below you can see the 'Rotate' options you have available for your selected files(s) - Right, Left, and Upside Down.

Also, if you slide the bar to the right of the 'Zoom' on the bottom of the program, as seen above, this will make each of the thumbnails appear larger, or, smaller, depending on which way, and how far, you move the slider. What this motion does is allow you to resize the thumbnails to the size you want to see them, and, be able to maximize the number of thumbnails you'd like to see in the right pane.
